History
Ungos National High School is the largest public high school in Real, Quezon. It is also the largest high school in Real. The school was established through the initiative of Ms. Rita Ramirez with the help of Mr. Alfredo Juntereal, then principal of Real Central School, former Mayor Epifanio Crisostomo, Mr. Pacito Boiser, Mr. Joaquin Ruanto and Mr. Eliseo Combalicer.
On February 1970, on a vacant residential house, known as "Bastipol" with Ms. Irene Ibarrola and Ms. Teresita Saavedra as pioneer teachers. The school started its operation with forty-six students with the name of the school as Ungos Barangay High School.
During the 1970's, Ungos Barangay High School was contested when it was started. It was petitioned by the owner of the existing private school for the reason of its distance to the existing private school. But then due to the noble intention of Mr. Alfredo Juntereal and former Mayor Epifanio Crisostomo of giving the elementary graduates of Real an access to a free secondary education, they won the case in court.
The continuing increase in enrollment prompted the school to expand its campus, from one nipa hut classroom with forty six students and two local government unit funded teachers, it has now over 40 classrooms and facilities with 59 nationally funded teachers and a student population of over 1699 as of beginning of school year 2018.
From Ungos Barangay High School it is then named to Ungos National High School with the addition of two annexes, the Lubayat Extension and the Llavac Extension Class.
Throughout its 48 years of existence, the Ungos National High School has become the alma mater of most Realeños who shaped the town's history, produced graduates who are now politicians, police, military, architects, engineers, seaman, teachers and others, all outstanding in their chosen profession. It has become the partner in the development of our youth and the community and now one among the best school in Real, Quezon. - UINHS Official Website
